Circular to Members questionnaires filled out by ANS members in the 1890s. The biographical information was used for composing obituaries. (The American Numismatic Society was known as the American Numismatic and Archaeological Society at the time.)
In this case, instead of returning the survey, Burchard included a newspaper clipping giving a biographical sketch of himself as Director of the Philadelphia Mint.
